IIFT 2020 Analysis

This year IIFT exam was conducted by National Testing Agency and exam was computer based. There were 4 sections namely QR, RC&VA, DI&LR, GA with a total of 110 questions. QR section was tough this year. DI was calculation intensive and selection of question was important in LR. RCs were moderate to tough. Vocabulary was also moderate to tough part in RC&VA section. This year difficulty level GK was moderate. To maintain the cutoff in all 4 sections time management was the key. This time almost all students faced problems due to faulty layout of the paper on the screen. Students had to scroll right and left frequently to read the questions and then options. Overall feel of the paper was moderate to tough.

Evaluation: This section was slightly difficult and questions were comparatively lengthier than last year. Overall it was dominated by Arithmetic, Geometry and Mensuration. Geometry and Mensuration included questions on Triangles, Height and Distance etc. In Arithmetic section questions on percentages, pipes and cistern and partnership were easy. Question on probability was also easier. Questions on clock and Venn diagram were moderate. So overall this section was difficult as it had only few direct questions.

Evaluation: The RCs were moderate in terms of difficulty level. There were four passages with 4 questions each. The subjects in the RCs ranged from politics to science and sociology. A student could have easily solved two passages in the given time. The RC section was dominated by direct questions and choices were tricky in one or two RCs.The Verbal Ability portion of the exam had an extremely strong emphasis on Vocabulary. One to two crossword vocabulary based question were also there. There were 2 roots based questions. As mentioned vocabulary was a very dominant part of this section and the words given belonged to moderate to tough category making the attempts slightly tricky. There was 1 sentence correction based question. There were 3-4 Para jumble questions and they were of easy to moderate difficulty level. The overall feel of this section was moderate

Evaluation: in this section DI questions were difficult and calculation intensive. Except Table based graph, rests were very difficult. Selection of blocks was very important. In LR games block was time consuming and had twisted information. Single questions in LR were manageable and must do along with workers set.

Section IV: General Awareness
Evaluation: The General Awareness section had questions from various topics and tested the candidate across all areas. The section was a mixed bag with current and static GK. The GK was moderate to tough. The expected attempt will be low.
