The exam consists of objective type questions. Till 2018, IIFT was a pen-paper based test. In 2019, it was conducted in online format and henceforth students should practice for online format. The exam duration is for two hours and is held in a single session from 10 AM to 12 noon. The IIFT exam was held on December 1, 2019, there were 110 questions divided into 4 sections. The exam is of 300 marks with 1.5 allotted to every correct answer in General Awareness section, whereas 3 marks for each correct answer in the other three sections (QR, RC & VR,and DI& LR). One-third negative mark for each wrong answer.
The IIFT exam is considered to be a bit tougher than CAT so aspirants often have a tough time while writing this exam. The pattern for this year is slightly different. The Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension questions come under different sub-sections, so students cannot compensate the attempt of one with the other. A similar segregation has been done with DI and LR sections.
