Students need to bring a printout of their NMAT admit card and exam confirmation email as well as one ID proofs with its photocopy. Digital photograph and signature are taken before students are provided a computer desk. Please note: Students cannot carry anything to the exam hall including pens, rough work material etc. Once the test begins, students are provided a ten-minute tutorial offering an overview of the test window regarding navigation, review options, and post that, students get the option of chosing the order of attempting the sections.
Language Skills (Verbal Ability): This section consisted of 32 questions that need to be solved with 22 minutes. The questions consisted from Grammar (fill in the blank question on propositions), Vocabulary (Correct word usage, Analogies, and synonym/antonym type questions). The difficulty-level of grammar questions was easy to moderate, whereas the Vocabulary questions were from moderate-to-high difficulty levels. The third and, arguably the most important topic of this section was Reading Comprehensions. There were two RC passages (One on Vertical Farming and other on Netiquette (Internet etiquettes)). The difficulty level was moderate with questions on finding inferences and conclusions taking prominence.
Bulls Eye’s Take: The time-factor is the biggest caveat in this section, and students should make sure they don’t waste much time In the Reading Comprehensions questions, and attempt questions with their best of judgments.
Quantitative Skills: The quant section offered 48 questions with the time limit of one hour. The section consisted of questions from both Data Interpretation and Quantitative Aptitude. The areas that were covered were Number System, Algebra, Profit and Loss, Permutation and Combination, Compound Interest, Venn Diagram, and Ratios. There were a couple of questions from the area of Clocks and Calendars as well.
Bulls Eye’s Take: The level of difficulty of this section was low-to-moderate. Students who are at the top of their preparation game for CAT should be able to tame this section and score the maximum correct answers.
Logical Reasoning: The Logical Reasoning section consisted of 40 questions that needed to be solved within 38 minutes. The questions in this area came from Coding-Decoding, Syllogisms, Family Based Puzzles, Seating Arrangements, Input / Output and Directions.
Bulls Eye’s Take: The difficulty level of the Logical Reasoning section was moderate. Logical thinking and sound judgment will help student’s crack this section.
Overall Take:
An above average CAT aspirant who has gone through the curriculum will find the going easy.
As per the trends, a score of 208 will be enough to get a call from NMIMS, Mumbai campus.
