IBSAT 2021 Analysis

IBSAT 2021 was held on 25 and 26 December, and the result was declared on 30 December, 2021. It is a national-level MBA entrance test conducted by ICFAI Business School for admission to nine campuses of the institute. Over 25,000 candidates appear for the exam every year with a hope to enrol in the relevant MBA/PGDM programmes.

IBSAT is a computer-based test that assesses the candidate’s skills in verbal ability, quant, and DI. From 2020, IBSAT is also being conducted in online-proctored home-based mode.

IBSAT 2021: Overall Analysis
IBSAT is a moderately difficult exam and considered quite easier than entrance tests like CAT, XAT, etc. Nevertheless, the limited number of seats in the nine IBS campuses gives rise to decent degree of competition among the management aspirants. IBSAT 2021 Exam Analysis
The overall difficulty of IBSAT 2021 was on similar lines as of the previous year. While the verbal and RC sections were easy to tackle, the quant and DI part was fairly moderate in nature. Go through the detailed analysis of different sections of IBSAT 2021:
Verbal Ability – Analysis
Verbal ability is the most significant and highly scoring section of IBSAT. There were several easy as well as tricky questions from vocabulary and grammar. Most of these questions featured in form of Idiom/Phrases, Synonyms/ Antonyms, Jumbled Paragraphs, One-word substitution, Analogy, Cloze passage, etc. On the whole, the section was considered easy to crack if you are aware of the fundamental rules of grammar.
An attempt of 30+ questions in 25 minutes would do well for a good score in the section.
Reading Comprehension – Analysis
RC section was medium in difficulty and comprised 3-4 passages. The section was a little time-consuming due to the length of passages. However, the accompanying questions were mostly direct and factual. Other questions related to inferences and were slightly complex.
An attempt of 20+ questions in 25 minutes suffices for a great score in the section.
GIM
Quantitative Aptitude – Analysis
Quant section had a mix of moderate and tough questions. Majority of the questions were from arithmetic, geometry, and algebra. The section mainly emphasised on percentages; ratio and proportion; speed, distance, and time; time and work; progressions; probability;heights, etc. The section demanded good calculation skills so as to achieve high accuracy.
An attempt of 18+ questions in 25-30 minutes can lead to an excellent performance in the section.
Data Adequacy & Data Interpretation – Analysis
Another lengthy section of IBSAT, Data Adequacy & Data Interpretation questions calls for a good hold over basic mathematical concepts and tricks. Most of these questions appeared in form of line graphs, bar graphs, pie charts, caselets, etc. To crack the section well, candidates required expertise in algebra, geometry, and arithmetic topics like ratios, percentage change, etc. Further, data adequacy questions primarily tests the logical reasoning skills of the candidates.
