TISSNET (TISS National Entrance Test)
A computer-based test called TISSNET is held in the first stage of TISS admissions. It is a 100-minute test with 100 MCQs. Based on the TISSNET scores and the ratio of the number of seats for each programme under each category, the candidates are shortlisted for the next stage. At this point, there are no reservations made during the shortlisting process. Only at the time of final seat allocation, all regulations pertaining to reservations under various categories are put into effect.
TISS Online Assessments
Since the time of covid, the further rounds of the TISS selection process is conducted online. These include:
Extempore
In this round, the panel members of the panel allocate a topic to the candidate, as per their preferred programme and educational background. The candidate has to speak on the given topic for 2-3 minutes. In case the candidate wishes to change the topic, candidates will have the option of requesting for the second one. However, there is no third choice available.
Personal Interview
Personal Interview is a great opportunity for candidates to show their skills and strengths. It's a chance to show how they are a perfect fit for the particular institute or position. On the other hand, it gives a chance to the panelists to evaluate the personality of the candidate. Typically, interview questions can be of different types, like personality-based questions, which focus on strengths, weaknesses, achievements, failures and goals of an individual. Questions regarding educational background focus on an individual's academic performance.
There can also be current affairs or career planning based questions. The panelists might also ask technical questions related to your graduation subjects. Keeping in mind the nature of courses offered at TISS, questions regarding the specialization the candidate is interested in pursuing are commonly asked. For Example: for the human resources program, students are asked about the role of a human resource manager and the importance of human resource management.
