On the whole the level of the test was moderate to tough. The important factor was selection of appropriate questions to attempt. The reasoning section was easier than quant section in this exam. Verbal section was moderate. One peculiar thing in this paper was that there were clusters of medium and difficult questions, so one had to skip the difficult cluster and to move to medium level cluster quickly. The key to getting a good percentile was time management and selection of questions.
The first passage (1-4) discussed the historical origins of inequality, tracing it from hunter/gatherer societies to the rise of private property and its impact on inequality. The passage was easy to understand and questions based on it were either easy or moderate. The second passage (5-8) discussed India's journey towards becoming the world's third-largest economy, focusing on the transformation of its power sector to meet rising energy demands and sustainability goals. The passage slightly tricky to understand & questions based on it were moderate except Q6, which was easy. The third passage (9-12) discussed HUL's decision to reduce its reliance on palm oil due to price volatility and environmental concerns, while addressing the potential impact on small-scale farmers and sustainability efforts in the palm oil industry. The passage was an interesting read and questions based on it were easy except Q 11, which was moderate. The fourth passage (13-16) discussed Edward Lorenz's "butterfly effect," which highlighted how small events can lead to large, unpredictable consequences, challenging the concept of cause and effect in modern science. The passage was a little difficult to understand and questions based on it were also moderate except Q16, which was easy. The questions (17-19) based on summary were moderate. The questions (20-22) based on best-fit were a mixed bag. The questions (23 & 24) based on finding the misfit were easy & moderate respectively. Overall feel of the section was moderate. However one could have easily scored 90+ percentile by attempting 18-20 questions with 75-80% accuracy.
The difficulty level of DI was moderate. There was 3 easy, 14 medium and 5 difficult questions in this section. The block (Samy, a builder, decides to make a doll house for her daughter Simmi. Simmi is a bright and spoiled girl and names her doll house ‘Cantilla’. She has following requirements for Cantilla) was the easy and should have been attempted. The other block (‘Get a Brew Cafe’ has a variety of 205 different servings, out of which 130 use Arabica coffee and the remaining 75 use Robusta coffee.) was moderate and few of the questions should have been attempted from other blocks. In this section, one could have fetched 90+ percentile by attempting 7-10 questions with approx. 75 % accuracy.
Students found this section moderate. The Quantitative section had 6 easy, 8 medium and 8 difficult questions. Selection of questions was important to crack this section. There were questions from varied topics like Geometry2, Basic Numbers, Basic Algebra, Progression And Series, (percentages/time and work/mixtures/percentages/allgation/ratios). A good student could have scored 90+ percentile by attempting around 9-12 questions with approx. 80% accuracy.
The overall feel of the paper was moderate to tough, though for the students who knew how to manage the time available to the best i.e., not wasting much time in lengthy and difficult questions, could easily manage an overall good attempt. Most of the questions in quant section were from Arithmetic, Algebra, Number system and Geometry. For verbal section, one should have good reading speed & comprehension skills as there were 4 RCs based on different areas and also a few questions based on other areas such as summary, best-fit & odd one out. One must focus on contextual vocabulary to understand and score well in passages &summary-based questions. Questions such as sentence rearrangement and Best-fit require analysis and knowledge of tricks to answer the questions. It is not advisable to spend too much time on TITA questions especially in the verbal section.
