Management Aptitude Test (MAT) is the gateway to 600+ management Institutes under AIMA. MAT is conducted four times in a year in the months of February, May, September, and December. Any B-School, national or international, can consider MAT Score as an admission criterion based on the scorecards issued to the candidates.

MAT is essentially a speed based test and the level of questions asked in MAT range from easy to moderate. Keeping in mind the level of difficulty and different sections of the exam, the best way to prepare for the exam is by solving previous years' papers. Solving previous year papers will give you a fair idea of the types of questions, level of difficulty of the paper and simulate test like conditions to help you in effective time management.

The MAT paper consists of 5 sections namely Mathematical Skills, Critical Reasoning, Language Comprehension, Data Interpretation and Indian & Global Environment. Each section has 40 questions and there is no sectional time limit. Candidate will be awarded +1 for every right answer and -0.25 for every wrong answer. The total of 200 questions is to be solved in a time span of 150 minutes. The marks of general awareness section are not used by AIMA to generate the final MAT score and it is completely up to individual institutes whether they use the score of this section for admission purposes or not.
