The Symbiosis Institute of Geo-Informatics was set up to create a prospective human force that will be capable of meeting the requirement of the industry and society to execute the demands of the promising technology and wellbeing of the community at large. The institute was established as an independent institute with different personalities from areas of research, academia and industry to devise the programme. Since 2008, the SIG is the constituent of Symbiosis International University. The institute received recognition from AICTE, UGC and a warm-hearted response from the recruiters for industry placements. The university offers two years masters programme in Geo-informatics. The curriculum of this course is well defined and involves step by step by step introduction to the subject. However, the faculty uses a unique pedagogy to teach students which relates to the working world also. Besides academic excellence, the institution is achieving competency in technical field by applying the theories they learnt. Continuous evaluation through assignments and projects enhances the learning process and exposes the students to the challenges of the area.
