On the whole the level of the test was moderate. The important factor was selection of appropriate questions to attempt. The quant section was easier than reasoning section in this test. Verbal section was moderate. One peculiar thing in this paper was that there were clusters of easy, moderate and difficult questions, so one had to skip the difficult cluster and to move to easy & medium level cluster quickly. The key to getting a good percentile was time management and selection of questions.
The first passage (2-5) explained how the brain managed uncertainty through prediction and emotional responses, laying the groundwork for understanding social media’s effects on mental health and persistent use. The passage was tricky to understand and questions based on it were a mixed bag. The second passage (7-10) argued that unbiased atheism supported scientific progress through evidence-based inquiry, critical thinking, openness to revising beliefs, and independence from theological or ideological constraints. The passage was difficult and questions based on it were all moderate except Q8, which was easy. The third passage (12-15) highlighted how India’s power sector transformation, driven by rising energy demand, renewable expansion, infrastructure investment, and consistent, transparent reforms, was crucial to its economic ambitions. The passage was easy to understand and questions based on it were easy or moderate. The fourth passage (21-24) explained how popular culture misinterpreted Lorenz’s butterfly effect, which revealed the limits of tracing causes and predicting outcomes in complex systems. The passage was an interesting read but the questions based on it were moderate except Q24which was easy. The questions (1 & 18) were difficult and easy respectively. The questions (6 & 17) based on best-fit were moderate and easy respectively. The questions (11 &16) based on summary were easy. The questions (19 &20) based on misfit were easy and moderate respectively. Overall feel of the section was moderate. However, one could have easily scored 90+ percentile by attempting 17-19 questions with 70-75% accuracy.
The difficulty level of DI was difficult than quant this time. There were 2 easy, 8 medium and 12 difficult questions in this section. The blocks (An All-India Academic Excellence Competition was held, where the top seven students were Aryan & Pyare, Qutie, Raju, Sitara, and Tara participated in a test. The test had seven questions, each) were moderate and should have been attempted.
In this section, one could have fetched 90+ percentile by attempting 8-10 questions with approx. 80 % accuracy.
Students found this section easy. The Quantitative section had 8 easy, 6medium and 8 difficult questions. Selection of questions was important to crack this section. There were questions from varied topics like Geometry, Basic Numbers, Basic Algebra, Progression And Series, and Arithmetic.
A good student could have scored 90+ percentile by attempting around 12 -14 questions with approx. 80% accuracy.
The overall feel of the paper was moderate, and for the students who knew how to manage the time available to the best i.e., not wasting much time in lengthy and difficult questions, could have easily managed an overall good attempt. Most of the questions in quant section were from Arithmetic, Algebra, Number system and Geometry. For verbal section, one should have good reading speed & comprehension skills as there were 4 RCs based on different areas and also a few questions based on other areas such as summary, best-fit, rearrangement & odd one out. One must focus on contextual vocabulary to understand the key ideas and score well in passages & summary-based questions. Questions such as Best-fit, sentence rearrangement & misfit require analysis and knowledge of tricks to answer the questions.
