Established as University specialising in Petroleum, Energy and Power, UPES has expanded to School of Business, School of Legal Studies and School of Design etc. The university now offers 100 undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in various fields of education. Now, doctorate level programmes have been introduced in the mainstay sectors of petroleum and energy. The most prestigious schools of UPES after engineering are Management and Law. Both the courses provide undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral level programmes.
For admissions to the School of Management, the students have to appear for group discussion and personal interview. The university does not conduct any entrance test. The students must ensure that they scored 50% marks in their 10+2 examination to be eligible for GDPI. For admissions to law, CLAT, LSAT India and UL-SAT score are required. The university conducts UL-SAT for admissions to Law and UPESMET for admissions to MBA. There are various other programmes offered at the university for which the university accepts both National Level Tests and university conducted entrances.
