Indian Institute of Management Ranchi - Admission Criteria/Selection Process

Students aiming to study at IIM Ranchi should be aware of the admission criteria followed by IIM Ranchi for the Post Graduate Programme in Management. Important points that students should bear in mind is that their performance in CAT will be taken into consideration. The second stage includes Written Ability Process (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI) session. Those IIMs which are participating in CAP 2019 have a common WAT and PI process.

Phase – 1 Shortlisting Candidates for WAT /PI Process

1. Candidates who have cleared the CAT cut-offs as mentioned in table 1 would be eligible for the first phase of the shortlisting process. The first list of shortlisted candidates will be eligible for WAT and PI process. Students should expect the list to be out around the month of January 2019.

Note: The above-cut off percentile figures are just indicative and the shortlisted candidates of all participating IIMs will be merged and a final shortlist will be prepared for further admission process.

Phase 2- WAT and PI Process:

Candidates have to be well- versed with current events to clear the second stage of the selection process. The WAT and PI process is conducted at five different locations across the country, namely, Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata, Mumbai, and New Delhi. Information regarding the dates and time for the WAT and PI Process will be communicated to the shortlisted candidates.

Final Admission 2019-2021- Key Details
  • Once the candidates have cleared the WAT and PI stage admission offers would  be made after taking into consideration the final Merit List.

  • Students should make a note of the components and the weights assigned to them as on the basis of it a final Consolidated Merit List is made.

A) CAT Percentile – Important Point

30% weightage is assigned to the CAT score of only those candidates who are eligible for WAT and PI process.

B) Written Ability Test and Personal Interview – Important Point

Candidates should note that there will be a minimum cut-off of 15 out of marks (30 % weightage) in normalized PI scores. If the candidate does not clear the PI cut-off he/she will not be considered eligible for further admission process in preparation of Consolidated Merit List.

This component carries 15 marks.

Terms for Offer Acceptance Fee and Refund on Withdrawal:

  • It is important to note that if a candidate receives admission offer for Post Graduate Programme of IIM Ranchi from the Admission Department and he/she accepts the offer then the candidate has to make a payment of Rs 1,00,000/- as Offer Acceptance Amount.
  • The Offer Acceptance Amount will be adjusted against the Term 1 Fee, if the candidate registers for the PGP program.
  • If a situation arises where the candidate wishes to withdraw from the IIM Ranchi’s PGP  programme before the registration date then the Offer  Acceptance Amount will be refunded and Rs 1000 will be deducted as processing charges.
  • After the commencement of PGP Classes, there will be NO refund of Offer Acceptance Amount and Term fee.Only caution deposit and Alumni Fee will be refunded to the candidate.

Note: Final discretion on classifying an academic programme eligible for academic diversity score will rest on IIM Ranchi.
