IIM Amritsar Admission Criteria 2020-2022

IIM Amritsar outlines the admission process for admissions to its MBA program for the batch 2020-2022.  The institute will identify and admit meritorious candidates under each category of admission, namely, General, NC-OBC, SC, ST, EWS and PWD. The selection process is two staged based on various parameters. The first stage of selection process comprises of shortlisting candidates for Personal Interview (PI) and Written Ability Test (WAT). On the other hand, second stage of selection process comprises of shortlisting candidates for final admission to the MBA program.
The selection process is as follows:
Stage 1: Pre – Personal Interview (PI) Process
 First stage of the selection process is applicable to all eligible candidates who appear for CAT 2019, to identify candidates for PI/WAT. First shortlist will comprise of candidates who have secured a pre-determined minimum percentile score in each section and overall CAT 2019 score.

Candidates obtaining a positive (Greater than Zero) raw score in all sections of CAT 2019 will only be considered. Candidate’s percentage scores in 10th and 12th board exams are initially adjusted by dividing each core by 90th percentile score obtained in their particular board. However, final scores obtained in graduation will be divided by 90th percentile. Candidates with incomplete graduate score are considered only if candidate’s final graduation score is pending.

The above parameters will help to rank candidates in order of merit to be called for PI/WAT based on the order of their rank.
Stage 2: Shortlisting of Candidates for Final Merit List
  • The second stage of selection process comprises of Personal Interview (PI) and Written Ability Test (WAT). All of the shortlisted candidates in the first list will have to take WAT on a topic provided by IIM Amritsar. Candidates will be given 20minutes to complete WAT and submission will be evaluated separately.
  • During the personal interview, candidates will be evaluated based on their academic background, personal traits and quality of work experience.
  • Pre-PI scores and PI/WAT scores will be cumulatively in the final phase to select the meritorious candidate for the admissions.
  • The final ranking list of candidates will be based on aggregate scores based on following parameters and their weightage.

The final admission offers will be made to selected candidates from each category, which will be completely based on final ranks based on aggregate score calculated in the above table.
