  1. The candidates who are in the first shortlist (i.e those who have selected IIM Visakhapatnam and also meet the minimum CAT 2019 percentile requirements mentioned in table 1 ) would be receiving an e-mail from IIM Visakhapatnam admission authorities. Candidates have to visit a link where they must apply for admission  to PGP 2020- 22 at IIM(V) within a mentioned deadline and fill a detailed online application.
  2. Details of important academic records such as statement of purpose, semester wise/ year wise marks of Bachelor’s degree, copies of all academic transcripts, work experience certificate, certificate of disability(if applicable), etc. have to be filled in the online application by the shortlisted candidates belonging to Phase- 1.
  3. After the documents have been verified, Phase – 1 candidates will be considered for Phase- 2 selection process.
Phase – 2 Shortlisting Process
  1. Candidates meeting the minimum CAT 2019 percentile requirements and have applied for admission to IIM V by filling the detailed online application within the mentioned deadline (referred to as Qualified Confirmed Candidates) will be eligible for Phase -2 of the selection process.
  2. Phase 2 shortlisted candidates includes those candidates whose percentage score of class 10th and 12th board exams are adjusted by dividing such score by the 90th percentile score obtained in that board. It is a rigorous process as the database of 10th and 12th scores of all CAT applicants of the past two years is taken into consideration for identifying the 90th percentile score for each 10th and 12th board for this purpose.
  3. Final scores obtained by the candidates are used for the Bachelor’s degree and professional degrees to compile a list of Qualified Confirmed Candidates. If a candidate is in his final year of graduation at the time of registration for CAT exam then his incomplete graduation score would be considered in lieu of final graduation score. For all Qualified Confirmed Candidates, graduation scores are adjusted within their respective categories.
  4. Courses namely Chartered Accountancy, Cost Accountancy and Company Secretary will be eligible for weight under professional course and candidates having these degrees have to provide certificates. The professional course is standardized for all Qualified Confirmed Candidates.
  5. For all Qualified Confirmed Candidates, the score/weight for work experience is calculated as : Score for Work Experience = 8 x/ 36 (if 0 < x< 36)
    = 8 (if x > = 36)
Where x stands for the months of work experience up to July 2019, as mentioned in CAT application form for admission to IIM V.
  1. The following table elaborates on weights allocated for remaining six components otherb than work experience or professional course.

12. To compute a final aggregate score for Qualified Confirmed Candidates, the weightage aggregate of the six components namely. 1) CAT, 2) Class 10th board, 3) Class 12th board 4) Bachelors 5) Diversity 6) Work Experience/ Professional course is taken into consideration.
13. Note : Normalization and standardization in any component that is stated above will be computed as per the below- mentioned formula.
Standardization score (truncated between 0 and weight (wt)) is computed from the raw score (val) as:
Max [ 0, min { wt, wt/2 + ((val-mean/ sd)*Wt/6}]
14. The final admission offers will be made purely on the basis of ranks in each category on the basis of the final aggregate score as mentioned in point 12.
