The B-School, backed by an investment of more than Rs.1500 Cr, will offer a 2- year MBA degree programme to shape transformative leaders of tomorrow

Powered by the spirit of excellence and modelled on its entrepreneurial culture, BITS Pilani - an Institution of Eminence - launched BITS School of Management (BITSoM) - a new-age global business school. The B-school is being set up in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), the business capital of India, with an investment of more than Rs.1500 Cr over the next 10 years. BITSoM will offer a futuristic curriculum in its 2-year residential MBA degree program, with a stellar faculty, handpicked from the top business schools globally. It aims to redefine the paradigms of business education in India through its evolutionary thinking and relevant knowledge to support learning and leadership, relevant to current business landscape.

Speaking on the launch Mr. Kumar Mangalam Birla, Chancellor, BITS Pilani, said, “The accelerating trends of digitization, sustainability, and de-globalization are reshaping the world in more ways than one can imagine. In a world marked by uncertainty, it is time to introduce a new way of thinking and prepare young leaders for this age of disruption. Building on the legacy of BITS Pilani, we have envisioned that BITSoM will mould visionary game-changers through a new age MBA degree program, that goes beyond management studies alone. The endeavour is not just to redefine management education, but also help articulate the role of business in society. BITSoM will, in its unique way, advance the cumulative wisdom of management thinking in India. It will bring a new set of ideas, principles and frameworks and collaborate with existing institutions to make India a potential global hub for management education. Great institutions, after all, help build nations and advance progress.”

BITSoM will provide students a platform to learn from the brightest minds across industry and academia globally. This will include globally renowned professors from top B-Schools such as NYU Stern School of Business, Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, Singapore Management University and Kellogg School of Management, in addition to leading industry practitioners. The students will also gain access to relevant industry networks and insights through pioneering leaders who will be a part of the distinguished Governing Council, an elite body led by Mr. Kumar Mangalam Birla, responsible for providing strategic direction to BITSoM. Further, BITSoM will provide students access to the BITS Pilani alumni network – including 3000+ CEOs of leading Indian and multi-national companies and 4200+ founders who have shaped global businesses. The transformational education, coupled with deep industry connections, will be instrumental in charting a path of success for the students of BITSoM.

Designed for those who can think outside the box and challenge the status quo, the two-year MBA program will infuse the fundamentals of business, i.e. Marketing, Finance, Strategy etc., with relevant future-focused courses on Emerging Technology, Design Thinking and, Data Analytics. Amplified by modern workplaces’ needs and to prepare future-ready leaders, BITSoM will provide distinctive specializations in Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Ecommerce and Digital Leadership (a first amongst top global schools), Finance and Investments, Leadership and Strategy, and Marketing and Consumer Insights.

The multidisciplinary curriculum of the MBA program will address the needs of an evolving business landscape and offer students an immersive, engaging, and holistic experience to excel in all aspects of their lives. The MBA Program will motivate students to think differently, enable them to overcome complex challenges, and help them leverage the power of technology to unleash their potential. All students will take a module on ‘Winning at the Workplace’, designed to develop cognitive and behavioral capabilities as well as provide students with global and contextual perspectives with courses such as Ethics in Business, the Origin of Management in India, and Indian Philosophy and Leadership.

The upcoming campus of BITSoM is being developed across 60 acres in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, to be at par with leading business schools across the world. The endeavour is to make it a zero-carbon footprint campus in fullness of time. In the interim, BITSoM will operate out of a state-of-the-art campus in Powai, Mumbai.
