BIMTECH Greater Noida - Press Release

ARIIA (Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements) is an MHRD initiative by the Indian Government, to systematically rank higher educational institutions and universities in India on indicators related to “Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development”. This year, a total of 674 institutions have participated in the ranking process under two categories i.e. a) Publicly Funded Institute and b) Private or Self-Financed Institutions.

Acknowledging the crucial role Higher education Institutions (HEIs) play in creating a sustainable innovation ecosystem, the Ministry of Education, Govt. of India, systematically ranked education institutions and universities in the country based on pre-defined parameters. ARIIA has primarily focused on six main parameters while deducing and finalizing the ranks of respective institutions which are,‘Programs and activities on IPR, innovation, Start-up and Entrepreneurship’, ‘Pre Incubation and Incubation Infrastructure & Facilities & Support I&E’, ‘Annual Budget Spent on Promoting and Supporting I&E Activities’, ‘Courses on Innovation, IPR and Entrepreneurship Development’, ‘Intellectual Property(IP) , Technology Transfer and Commercialization’, ‘Successful Innovation and Start-ups & Funding Innovation & Start-ups’.

‘Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH), Greater Noida, is the only B-School to be among the top 25 in the category of ‘Private or Self-Financed Colleges/Institutions’. Speaking on this occasion, Dr H Chaturvedi, Director, BIMTECH, said, “In  the last 5 years, India has made considerable progress in the world map in the areas of innovation and entrepreneurship. India has moved up from 81st position in 2015 to 52nd position in 2019 in Global Innovation Index (GII) ranking, 78th position in Global Entrepreneurship Index (GEI). At BIMTECH, we try to enthuse the young generation in driving the socio-economic development in the country. Our work ethics, strong community of learned members and inspiring legacy has always made us stand apart. We are pleased to attain another breakthrough as an ARIIA rank holder institution."  

For the past 15 years, BIMTECH has inspired, educated, and empowered potential entrepreneurs as they innovate and create business ventures. Its mission is to support and mentor the entrepreneurial ambitions of students, alumni, faculty, and the community at large and turn BIMTECH into a crucible for entrepreneurship initiatives. It also has received a grant by the Atal Innovation Mission to create an Atal Incubation Centre at BIMTECH. This incubation centre has supported 63 Startups to date since its operations started in January 2018. Built over a total area of 16,500 sqft, it also offers a facility of co-living space to its incubatees. AIC-BIMTECH has created 276 jobs via the incubated startups who have also received 14 awards. It has 61 partnerships, 31 mentors, and 9 incubatees who have raised funds to the tune of INR 3.65 crores.

Dr. Abha Rishi, Chairperson, Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development (CIED), said, “This honour has further inspired us to work more and keep building an ecosystem to encourage high-quality research, innovations and entrepreneurship in Greater Noida and UP.  We consider ourselves as an evolving innovative organization that initiates, facilitates and empowers entrepreneurship development.”
