Established in 1998 ,The Department of Management Studies (DoMS), IIT Roorkee uses the CAT score to make a preliminary selection of candidates for group discussion and interview. These shortlisted candidates are invited for a written analysis, group discussion and interview to gauge their overall suitability. The cutoff figures for its flagship MBA program are based on the CAT percentile score, but final admission is determined by CAT score, PI score and work experience. IIT Roorkee MBA cut-off is separately applicable each year and this year also, it is expected to be similar. Doing well in the second phase is necessary to get a seat after qualifying for the IIT Roorkee cutoff's figures.
For IIT graduates with CGPA of 7 and above, CAT scores are not compulsory.
In the first stage, DoMS considers only the standardized entrance test (CAT) scores, but the final admissions are determined by the overall profile of the candidate. A good academic and professional work-ex portfolio can increase the candidate's selection chance exponentially. A composite score is calculated for the final merit list, that is based on interview performance, CAT scores, and work experience. The following table displays the weightage given to different parameters, as per the different categories of candidates:
