IIM Sambalpur - Admission Policy / Selection Process Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP)- 2020

Students aiming to study at the Indian Institute of Management,Sambalpur (Odisha) should be aware of the admission criteria followed by IIM Sambalpurfor the two-year Post Graduate programme.The batch size for 2020-2022 PGP  is likely to be 180. However, IIM Sambalpur reserves the right to modify admission criteria and cut-offs. IIM Sambalpur aims to identify meritorious candidates for admissions to its management programs under each category. IIM Sambalpur strives to ensue a better balance in opportunities among different subject stream and genders. Students applying for PGP at IIM Sambalpur will be duly recognized for their academic performance and industrial experience.
IIM Sambalpur admission process consists of:
  • CAT Examination Scores
  • Shortlisting Candidates for Personal Appearance (PA) process
  • Conducting the PA process composed of Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview of the shortlisted candidates
  • Preparing Final SelectionList (FSL) based on CAT score, WAT & PI score and Profile score(which includes Work experience WE), and score for Past Academic Performance (PAP)indicated in detail below.
Criteria for Shortlisting to PA (WAT & PI) Process:
Note: PA Process will be common to all the 9 IIMs, namely, IIM Bodh Gaya, IIM Jammu, IIM Kashipur, IIM Raipur, IIM Ranchi, IIM Sambalpur, IIM Sirmaur, IIM Trichy, and IIM Udaipur.
The final merit list will be prepared after the performance of the candidates in WAT and PI during the Common Admission Process is assessed.
Cut-off percentile for eligibility to PA process in three sections and total CAT percentile for different categories of students are given below:

** Note: This is incase of female candidates under general category, the over-all cut-off percentile for eligibility for PA process is >= 88 with sectional cutoff of 75 percentiles. Students should understand that if they get a minimum overall/ sectional CAT percentile then it does not guarantee a call for PA Process. The final list of candidates to be invited for PA process will be decided strictly based on order of merit according to IIM Sambalpur. Students should prepare for WAT and PI and the PA process will be conducted by IIM Sambalpur.
Criteria for Preparing the Merit List : Key Details
The criteria for preparing merit list will be as follows:
  • CAT Score *  – 30%
  • Personal Appearance( WAT & PI)  – 20%
  • Profile – 50%
*CAT Score of the candidates divided by Maximum CAT Score among candidates who have applied to IIM Sambalpur and participated in the Personal Appearance process. It is clarified that the CAT scaled score would be used and not the CAT Percentile.
a. CAT Score: IIM Sambalpur will use CAT 2019 Score
b. Personal Appearance (PA): IIM Sambalpur will consider the following weights:
Written Analysis: 5 %
Personal Interview : 15 %
Note: Candidates who do not get certain minimum score in the PA process would not be included in the merit list. IIM Sambalpur has the sole authority to decide the minimum scores.
c. Candidate’s Profile: The following will be the breakup of the 50% component for Profile.
  • Academic Profile: 10%
  • Work Experience: 20%
  • Diversity : 20
For Academic Profile: Following will be the weights

  • Under Graduation : 4%
