IIM Jammu - Admission Policy/Selection Process Master of Business Administration (MBA)

Students aiming to study at the Indian Institute of Management, Jammu should be aware of the admission criteria followed by IIM Jammu for the two-year Master of Business Administration programme.The batch size for 2021-2023 MBA is likely to be 240. However, IIM Jammu reserves the right to modify admission criteria and cut-offs.
IIM Jammu aims to identify meritorious candidates for admissions to its management programs under each category.
IIM Jammu admission process consists of:
  • CAT Examination Scores
  • Shortlisting Candidates for Personal Appearance (PA) process
  • Conducting the PA process composed of Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview of the shortlisted candidates. (PA Process will be common to all the 9 IIMs, namely, IIM Bodh Gaya, IIM Jammu, IIM Kashipur, IIM Raipur, IIM Ranchi, IIM Sambalpur, IIM Sirmaur, IIM Trichy, and IIM Udaipur.)
  • Preparing the merit list based on CAT score, WAT & PI score and Profile score as indicated in the table below.
  1. Criteria for Shortlisting to PA (WAT & PI) Process:
The final merit list will be prepared after the performance of the candidates in WAT and PI during the Common Admission Process is assessed.
Cut-off percentile for eligibility to PA process in three sections and total CAT percentile for different categories of students are given below:

* Note: This is incase of female candidates under general category, the over-all cut-off percentile for eligibility for PA process is >= 85 with sectional cutoff of 75 percentiles. Students should understand that if they get a minimum overall/ sectional CAT percentile then it does not guarantee a call for PA Process.
IIM Jammu’s  Admission Committee will decide the number of candidate who would be called for the PA process based on the criteria prepared for each category. If the number of shortlisted candidates is found to be less (more) than the required number of candidates to be called for WAT & PI category-wise, then the overall as well as section-wise score will be reduced (increased) to get desired number of candidates.
The final list of candidates to be invited for PA process will be decided strictly based on order of merit according to IIM Jammu’s admission committee. Students should prepare for WAT and PI and the PA process will be conducted by IIM Jammu.
  1. Criteria for Preparing the Merit List : Key Details
The criteria for preparing merit list will be as follows:
  • CAT Score  –0.4* Absolute CAT Percentile
  • Personal Appearance( WAT& PI)  – 30 Marks
  • Profile – 30 Marks
The above three score will be added and will be used to make the final list.
2.1 CAT Score (40 %): IIM Jammu will use CAT 2019 Score
2.2  Personal Appearance (PA): 30
IIM Jammu will consider the following weights:
Written Ability Test (WAT): 10
Personal Interview (PI): 20
