MARKCON 2024: a 15th International Conference and Research Consortium in Marketing organized by Indus Business Academy (IBA), Bangalore has concluded on January 6, 2024. The three days of marquee event on “Sustainable Marketing: a Conscious Consumerism and Public Policy Perspective” was inaugurated on January 4, 2024 at the institute campus in Bengaluru. The conference inaugural Keynote address was delivered by Padmabhushan Dr. Jagdish Sheth, Emory University and Dr. V.Kumar, Brock University, Canada. Dr. Sheth felt that the global warming is an existential threat; educating the public, providing economic incentives for sustainable practices and forming the market-driving policies are the key to counter the threat, he said. Dr. Kumar highlighted the efforts of brands in value creation and value appropriation which go a long way in building sustainable marketing practices.

The conference and research consortium was one of it’s kind as it addressed contemporary issues surrounding sustainability of business and sustainable marketing practices.The event drew lot of expert deliberations and research paper presentations done by the scholars and management students who attended the conference from across the world.
IBA, Bangalore honoured Dr. V.Kumar with Shri BML Jain Memorial Lifetime Achievement Award for his immense contributions to the academics. Dr. Shainesh, another academician from IIM, Bangalore was conferred with IBA’s Award for Excellence in Teaching and Research. The awardees thanked IBA for it’s initiatives in promoting and recognizing the worldwide research excellence.
Dr. KalpanaGopalan, Additional Chief Secretary to Government & Chairperson, Padmavati Institute of Public Policy and Dean (Academic), RVS Educational Trust delivered the Keynote Address in the Valedictory ceremony. Marketing and Branding Enthusiast, Singer, Script Writer Dr. Swapna Abraham was the Guest of Honour.
Research paper presentations were held during the conference. Dr. Sara Wurzer from University of Innsbruck, Austria won the Best Doctoral Research Paper Award which carried a cash prize of Rs. 25000/-. Mrs Archana Motta from PSGR Krishnammal College for Women, Coimbatore won the Best Research Paper Awardthat carried a cash prize of Rs. 15000/-. Ms Gayathri S from Christ University, Bengaluru walked away with the Best Research Paper Award under Student Category that carried a cash prize of Rs. 10000/-.
